NOTES

The Faversham register has baptisms for 3 sons named Daniel in this family, but the burial of only one of these, in 1693. There is, however, the burial of a child named John SILVER in 1698 for whom I have found no corresponding baptism, so it is possible that there is an error in the register, and that one of the later Daniels was actually a John. If so, it is also possible that Daniel SILVER (So224) was the one baptised 24 Feb 1694/5 rather than as I have given above.

Thomas Willement's "Historical Sketch of the Parish of Davington" (1862) includes an extract from Davington Manor records relating to a messuage in Faversham - "Att a court holden 28 Oct. 1695, William Burnham is dead, & gave the premisses by will to his nephew John Burnham, & that the said John Burnham has since aliened it to Daniel Silver, who married the sister of John ... ".

The will referred to above appears to be that of William BURNHAM of Faversham, proved 9 Oct 1691, Canterbury Archdeaconry, which includes a bequest to "John Burnham the younger" of a messuage in Faversham. This will also mentions John's sister Joane BURNHAM, daughter of "John Burnham the elder of Charleton in the county of Oxford husbandman".

The surname SILVER is sometimes spelt SYLVER.
